National Forums

What’s it all about?

Each year Scouts Australia holds a Major National Event (Jamboree, Venture, Moot) at which a youth forum is always held.  Youth and young adults come together to consider issues currently facing both their own section, and Scouting in Australia.  The forum then formulates recommendations for presentation to the Scouts Australia National Team – including the relevant National Youth Program Section Committee, and each Australian Branch.

The National Youth Forum’s provides a rare opportunity for the Scouts Australia National Team and Branches to draw on new ideas and input from youth members and young adults who are passionate about Scouting, in one place, at one time – face to face.

Why bother?

Scouts Australia is a leader in the Asia Pacific Scouting Region in ensuring young people are represented in decision making at all levels of Scouting.  In practice, this generally means one or two young people are included on various committees where they are able to bring a fresh and young perspective.

But this means a limited number of young people have direct input.

Youth Forums allow youth members and young adults to give direct feedback to the “highest levels” of decision making in Scouting in Australia and allow MORE members to collaborate and contribute to the progress of not only their section, but also the broader Scouting movement.
